The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its checklist for developmental milestones for children up to five years old.
This change occurred on 8 February 2022.
These milestones for children include activities such as walking and speaking. These developments are critical in order to be aware of early warning signs of autism or development delays.
The new checklists make several changes compared to previous checklists. In some cases, the CDC increased the age of the child when expected to perform a specific behavior.
Some people inaccurately attributed these changes to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the checklist was merely updated to make it more helpful in identifying potential developmental delays. There is no connection to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
