We’re at the point where pigs can donate kidneys, but healthy, matching, and willing human donors who haven’t received a Covid-19 vaccine can’t, even if it means a desperate patient could die.
Last week, news broke that 52 year old Mike Ganin’s life-saving kidney transplant was cancelled just 5 days before the operation was to take place. Why, you ask? Because the donor kidney was unvaccinated.
It was a healthy kidney from a healthy donor that was miraculously a match for Mr. Ganin and would have saved him from his extremely advanced polycystic kidney disease. He had been waiting for a new kidney for almost 2 years before a longtime acquaintance was tested and found to be a match. But the healthy donor, and thus her healthy kidney, had not received a Covid-19 vaccine. Mind you, through the months of matching, testing, and prepping for the operation, the donor had frequently informed all doctors that she had not and did not intend to receive a Covid-19 vaccine.
The Ganins were informed on October 8th that the Cleveland Clinic guidelines had changed to stipulate that all living donors must be fully vaccinated in order to be eligible to donate an organ. Which meant that the perfectly healthy and matching kidney could have been transplanted and saved his life a few days before, but no longer. Now it was considered unsafe.
To me, what this says is that the medical community would rather this man suffer and likely die of his advanced polycystic kidney disease than transplant a healthy matching kidney from a person who wasn’t complying with a hyper-political health mandate about a brand new and minimally tested vaccine. The Ganin family said that Mike’s kidney disease was “so advanced that doctors declared that he needed a new kidney,” saying, “It’s transplant time. No dialysis. We need a transplant, and we need it as soon as possible.”
But apparently not as soon as possible if it meant allowing an unvaccinated person to donate aa healthy matching organ to save his life. See, that’s just unacceptable. He’d just have to wait and potentially die instead.
To add insult to injury, news just broke that U.S. surgeons have successfully transplanted a pig’s kidney into a human patient “without triggering immediate rejection by the recipient’s immune system” for the first time ever. Reuters reported that this medical breakthrough could potentially be a “major advance that could eventually help alleviate a dire shortage of human organs for transplant.”
Yep. You read that right.
While perfectly healthy and matching transplant kidneys are denied to dying patients due to the Covid vaccine status of the donor, the medical community is experimenting with pig kidney transplants to make up for a supposed shortage of human transplant organs.
I wonder if the pig had to be fully vaxxed.
You see, if there’s actually a “dire shortage of human organs for transplant,” then you don’t deny healthy and matching donor organs because of political policies and mandates. Unless you don’t actually care about the lives of your patients.
Just like you don’t fire tens of thousands of healthcare professionals from hospitals that are supposedly overwhelmed. Unless you don’t actually care about the lives of your patients.
Makes no sense at all.
