Oliver Stone Suddenly Changes His Tune On Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein is, without a doubt, a disgusting pervy slob of a man. I know this. You know this. Oliver Stone did not know this.

Stone spoke to reporters at the Busan International Film Festival. They asked him about the mounting allegations against his fellow producer, poor ol’ Harvey.

Stone refused to condemn him.

“I’m a believer that you wait until this thing gets to trial,” Stone said. “I believe a man shouldn’t be condemned by a vigilante system. It’s not easy what he’s going through, either.”

If it sounds like he’s sympathizing with an admitted pervert, it’s because he’s sympathizing with an admitted pervert.

“During that period he was a rival,” Stone continued. “I never did business with him and didn’t really know him. I’ve heard horror stories on everyone in the business, so I’m not going to comment on gossip. I’ll wait and see, which is the right thing to do.”

Wait– that’s what he considers this? Gossip? This is far beyond “he said she said.” Weinstein essentially ADMITTED to exhibiting inappropriate behavior.

I guess he didn’t hear the audio of Harvey Weinstein admitting to groping a woman? And I guess he didn’t hear about how The Weinstein Company actually had a part in the contract that ALLOWED Harvey to sexually harass women?

The bottom line? Basically all of Hollywood KNEW Harvey was a creep but conveniently ignored it. Does Oliver Stone REALLY want to play this game?

Wait– there’s more! Within the last few hours, Stone has had a change of heart.

“I’ve been traveling for the last couple of days and wasn’t aware of all the women who came out to support the original story in the New York Times,” Stone wrote on Facebook. “After looking at what has been reported in many publications over the last couple of days, I’m appalled and commend the courage of the women who’ve stepped forward to report sexual abuse or rape.”

“I’ll therefore recuse myself from the ‘Guantanamo’ series as long as the Weinstein Company is involved,” he added.

He was just behind on his reading, you guys. But now? Now he WILL NOT STAND for this.
