$1.9 Trillion Covid Relief Bill Passes, Very Little Goes To Covid Relief

The Senate passed its massive $1.9 trillion so-called “Covid relief” bill with a completely partisan vote. All Democrats for, all Republicans against, 50-49 (one Republican Senator flew home for a family emergency making a Kamala Harris tie-breaking vote unnecessary).

Republican lawmakers are highly critical of the pork and pet project funding in the massive bill.

Sen. John Thune said,

“This was — as we suggested all along — a very partisan process and a product that reflects a rushed, hurried attempt to get $2 trillion out the door.”

Sen. Toomey said,

“This isn’t about COVID relief. It’s about using a health crisis as an excuse to ram through a left wing wishlist.”

Some of the obviously non-covid leftwing priorities were:

• $128.5 billion for schools that continue to defy science and refuse to open for in-person learning, to the detriment of American children.
• $4 billion in agricultural grants and loans for minority farmers.
• $100 million “to address health outcome disparities from pollution and the COVID-19 pandemic,” half of which would be used to “identify and address disproportionate environmental or public health harms and risks in minority populations or low-income populations.”
• $270 million for the National Endowments of the Arts and Humanities.
• $200 million for the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
• $175 million for the San Francisco 3rd St. Light Rail, the Dallas DART platform, an Orange County street car, Honolulu Hi Capacity Transit program, and New York City East Side Access project.
• 132% of operating costs to transit agencies, predominantly located in very large blue cities.
• Stimulus checks to illegal immigrants and prison inmates.

Senator Ron Johnson objected to skipping reading the nearly 600 page bill and the entire bill was subsequently read on the Senate floor.

When the bill passed, the loyal liberal media fawned and praised. The Washington Post headline literally said that Biden “showers money on Americans.”

And did you watch President Biden try to explain the bill to the American people? It’s honestly tragic, except that the fate of our country and society are in his cognitively impaired hands.

This is so embarrassing. I know Vice President Hoover is the absolute worst, but I’d seriously rather have her as president. At least she can form sentences.
