I’m pretty sure we’re aware that the slogan doesn’t condone just gallantly licking other people’s fingers. If it’s your own fingers, and you have washed your hands prior to eating, then what the hell does it matter?
KFC wants to avoid condoning the general act of licking fingers, whether your own or others (I guess), to ensure they aren’t enabling the public of spreading the coronavirus.
I mean, if I’m eating KFC and I don’t have any napkins, nor am I wearing black pants to discretely utilize as a cloth napkin, then what’s a girl to do?
…so, is anyone going to mention any of this to sex shops or are we just making sure we refrain from licking anything when it comes to eating chicken? Asking for a friend.
The Daily Wire reported:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state-based health departments have all issued coronavirus-related disease prevention instructions warning individuals not to touch their face — and, particularly, not their mouths, eyes, and nose — following contact with surfaces that could host the novel coronavirus.
Since licking fingers necessarily involves contact between digits and mouth, KFC is warning customers to keep their fingers only on the chicken and the utensils provided for the company’s side dishes, like coleslaw and mashed potatoes with gravy.
The “Finger-Lickin’ Good” slogan, which KFC has used for decades, just no longer “felt quite right” its chief marketing officer, Catherine Tan-Gillespie, said in a statement.
“We find ourselves in a unique situation — having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment,” she noted.
The slogan will return when the danger of contracting the novel coronavirus has passed, the company said.
The newly blurred slogan aired in a commercial that premiered this past Monday –
I gotta say, this is a very clever marketing strategy. Way to get back out there, KFC! You’re only about six months late to the game, but, yay!
Their previous marketing strategies didn’t quite work out after all, such as the log that smells like fried chicken while it’s burning, and the nail polish that was chicken-scented. I love my fried chicken but I sure as hell don’t need my digits smelling like them all the time… which is also why you should wash your hands before and after eating literally anything. Oh, because of germs too, I guess.
