President Trump Goes on Twitter Rampage Against GM and Ford for Ventilator Delays

President Trump is furious with General Motors and Ford for delays in producing ventilators.

The New York Post is reporting:

President Trump on Friday lashed into General Motors over a critical shortage of lifesaving ventilators amid the coronavirus pandemic — tweeting, “FORD, GET GOING ON VENTILATORS, FAST!!!!!!”

In a series of tweets, the president accused the auto-maker and its CEO Mary Barra of slow-walking and threatened to use the Defense Production Act which would allow him to compel private companies to retool their factories to meet demand.

Trump issued a series of angry tweets this morning.

Just the other day, I, a Honda loyalist, was thinking that my next vehicle needs to be a GM or Ford since these companies were reportedly stepping up.  Now, not so much.   Each day of delay may very well cost lives.

The tweet followed a New York Times article published Thursday evening reporting that the White House called-off a $1 billion deal with General Motors which would have allowed the auto-maker to build as many as 80,000 desperately needed ventilators.

According to the report, the announcement slated for this past Wednesday was cancelled when the Federal Emergency Management Agency balked at the high pricetag and said it needed more time to assess the deal.

So, FEMA balked at the price.  Considering the MILLIONS and BILLIONS and TRILLIONS being thrown around in this latest bailout bill, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, pay the $1 billion and get the ventilators!  Of all the things we should be spending money on right now, it is medical equipment and supplies!  I don’t know if GM and Ford are gouging or if the price they are asking is fair.  If it truly is gouging, President Trump absolutely should “Invoke P”.  Or, pay the piper and penalize them later.

However it is done, find a way to get the ventilator production ramped up immediately!
