Now that Elizabeth Warren has officially thrown in the towel, her former staff and supporters are gracefully accepting their defeat across the web.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH AS IF.
No, in reality, they’ve collectively melted down on Twitter, throwing shade primarily at Politico’s Alex Thompson, who was in charge of covering the Warren campaign. Thompson shared some screenshots of the abuse in a tweet suggesting they don’t really understand journalism (which, duh).

“no. here’s what went wrong, Alex, and I’ll tell you because I have nothing left to lose: media outlets/reps LIKE YOU chose to drive the narrative by reporting only on the struggles, rather than successes. You never had any intention of actively supporting the candidate that you were assigned. You chose clickbait over ethical journalism. Shame on you,” read two tweets from Catie Forthofer– the message that Thompson references in his response.
Other, more succinct tweets include, “Someone come get this man,” “Eat sh*t,” and “throw the whole man away” with a gif of someone being tossed into a dumpster. You know, the kind of thing you expect from 18 year olds whose dreams of free college were squashed, not professional adults.
Here’s the most interesting part: People are SHAMING Thompson over this tweet.

“If you think posting screenshots of 20 somethings who just got their heart broken to try to shame them makes you look like the good guy, you should think again, Alex. Delete this.” Or, if you allow me to paraphrase, “It’s okay for grown ass adults to act like little babies and you shouldn’t defend your journalistic integrity as a professional.”
“Their campaign just ended and you feel the need to run [sic] salt into the wound? Let them be angry.” Uhhh last I checked being angry isn’t an excuse to tell someone to eat sh*t.
“Being a whiny, thin-skinned sh*tweasel on Twitter isn’t your job either, but here we are. Maybe take a minute to check yourself, because putting these women on blast is evidence of the same disrespect and lack of professionalism that has them seething at you in the first place.” So basically Thompson is a “sh*tweasel” for sharing on the internet something that was ALREADY ON THE INTERNET? Also, REALLY? You’re accusing HIM of disrespect and a lack of professionalism???
Here’s the delicious irony of the situation: People are insinuating that Alex Thompson is a sexist for calling out women who are behaving like butt hurt children. But really, isn’t excusing this kind of unprofessional, immature, juvenile behavior because they’re “20 somethings” and women the LITERAL definition of “the soft bigotry of low expectations”?
Can we take a minute to imagine if the genders were reversed here? If these were men tweeting obscenities at a female journalist? They’d be called chauvinist *ssholes and someone would say they were afraid for the journalist’s life. But since they’re young women, they can stomp their feet and wave their arms and throw a little temper tantrum and people will jump to their defense because they’re angry and can’t be expected to manage their emotions.
And the Republicans are meant to be the sexist ones? Give me a break.
