I’m starting to wonder if the Democrat’s are even trying to win.  Bernie has been double and tripling down on his praise for Castro.  And now, Bloomberg is claiming the people of China don’t want democracy.

At a CNN town hall meeting in Charleston, South Carolina, Anderson Cooper questioned Michael Bloomberg about Chinese President Xi Jingping.

From the Daily Caller:

“It’s a question of what is a dictator. They don’t have a democracy in the sense that they have general elections. That is true. They do have a system where a small group of people appoint the head. And they turn over periodically,” Bloomberg explained. “There have been a number of people who have had the same position as Xi Jinping has.”

“If your definition is, a democracy where people vote and pick their leaders, that is not what China’s about.  And they don’t seem to want it.  They like their system.”

How does Bloomberg come to that ridiculous conclusion?  Bloomberg admits they do not have freedom of the press.  Perhaps they “don’t seem to want it” because they are not free to express that and to criticize the government.  Because, if they do, they might be imprisoned.

They are not free to decide how many children they have.  There is no freedom of speech. Freedom of religion is absent.

Bloomberg said he doesn’t think we should go to war and try to force democracy on China.  No one is suggesting war with China.  But, let’s not lie about the fact that the China is a dictatorship and the Chinese people are not free.

b: one holding complete autocratic control: a person with unlimited governmental power

c: one ruling in an absolute and often oppressive way fascist dictators

Yep, seems to be a dictatorship.   

By birthright, Mr. Bloomberg, the Chinese people should be free.  As Rousseau said, “Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains”.  Hopefully, one day, the chains will be released for the Chinese people.
