Well, this isn’t helping my Chinism at all.
Yup. You may not have heard my admission on our radio show, but ever since word traveled that coronavirus may be caused by Chinese people eating bizarre freshly dead animals on the open market – like bats and snakes and whatnot – I’ve found that my disdain for China as a country has increased.
I mean, I’ve always been irritated that they’re Communist, that they’ve had that whole one-child policy or variations of it forever, that they eat dogs – the list goes on and on. Now, some of my disdain for China is described in jest of course – it’s a schtick on our show, but I’m not gonna lie – some of it is starting to feel genuine. I certainly have no problem at all with Chinese Americans, but China as a country? Yeah. It sucks in a lot of ways, and as a result of how completely ridiculous their handling has been of this virus, my Chinism is in full swing. We learned that the official term for that is sinophobia, and I’m certainly not alone.
Anyway, I say all that as a preamble to tell you about a REEEEE-diculous story out of New York about the Asian American Alliance at the University of Albany. THEY ARE NOT HELPING.
Apparently, some kids at the University of Albany decided to have an OFF-CAMPUS corona-virus themed party last weekend. There was a video from the party that showed buckets of Corona beers next to a person wearing a mask, and the caption of the video read, “Corona virus isn’t gonna stop anyone from partying.” It’s since been deleted.
If you’re waiting for me to tell you something more sinister about this party – like that the students INFECTED party goers with the virus, or that they caused chaos and mayhem in some sort of horrible way, you’re gonna be waiting forever, because what happened at the party was….nothing.
It was just a party, at which kids wore masks and drank Coronas. That’s it.
But what did the Asian American Alliance students do? They got massively butthurt and released a big fat statement about it, saying in part, “As members of the Asian community on campus, your party is not funny and completely insensitive.”
Boo freaking hoo, losers. China spreading around a world wide virus that’s killing people is pretty insensitive too.
Unfortunately, university officials piled on, saying that the party was “distasteful and hurtful” because university officials have become complete snowflakes in the face of even the slightest hint of someone on their campus being offended by something.
College culture is out of control. Political correctness has infiltrated higher education to a degree that is just nonsensical.
Worse still, is that now the kids who hosted the PERFECTLY HARMLESS party are facing disciplinary action. Officials said, “Any allegations of conduct violations will be investigated and addressed through the University’s disciplinary process.”
You can’t have a party where surgical masks are situated next to Corona beers, you guys.
The kids who complained about this party are the REASON that Chinism and sinophobia get WORSE, not better. But they’re too butthurt to realize that.
GAWD.
