Jordan Peterson Survives 4 Weeks in ICU — His Daughter Opens Up About the Fight For His Life

National Post is reporting that Canadian psychologist and anti-political correctness crusader, Jordan Peterson, has been battling addiction and in a fight for his life over the course of the past year.

His daughter, Mikhaila Peterson, posted a video on Instagram with an update on his condition.  The video is quite strange.  It seems like she is reading off a teleprompter or is being held hostage and forced to read this statement.  But I digress.

Peterson was prescribed medication for anxiety several years ago.  He has previously been open about his struggles with depression.  He became addicted to the drugs after his wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

He sought treatment in New York and his family said he was misdiagnosed and treated with more drugs that created more problems, and even brought Peterson to the brink of death.  He is now in Russia receiving treatment.  He was diagnosed with pneumonia and was in an induced coma.

His daughter disclosed,

His conditioned worsened through the winter, Mikhaila said. He was driven to thoughts of suicide by a movement disorder called akathisia, a well known side effect of various drugs for mental illnesses. It is a sense of restlessness and an inability to sit still.

It became apparent that he was experiencing a paradoxical reaction to the medication, meaning the benzos did the opposite of what they’re supposed to do. These reactions are rare but are not unheard of.

Mikhaila further described the ordeal,

She said his withdrawal was “horrific,” worse than anything she had ever heard about. She said Russian doctors are not influenced by pharmaceutical companies to treat the side-effects of one drug with more drugs, and that they “have the guts to medically detox someone from benzodiazepines.

Jordan Peterson has only just come out of an intensive care unit, Mikhaila said. He has neurological damage, and a long way to go to full recovery. He is taking anti-seizure medication and cannot type or walk unaided, but is “on the mend” and his sense of humour has returned.

Of course, some on the left just cannot help themselves and have taken this opportunity to celebrate.  This man has no shame and no heart.

Mikhaila defended her Dad, pointing out,

This was not a case of psychological addiction. Benzodiazepine physical dependence due to the brain changes that can occur in a matter of weeks can destroy lives. It can be made even worse by paradoxical reactions that are difficult to diagnose. The medication almost killed my dad. He’s a psychologist and even he wasn’t aware of how bad these medications are for some people. Physical dependence can occur in a matter of a few weeks of daily use to biologically susceptible individuals.

I wish Jordan Peterson a speedy recovery and strength as he walks through his own recovery and his wife’s cancer.
