Earlier in the week, Rudy Giuliani expressed interest in the secretary of state position. It took me by surprise. I always assumed he’d be attorney general (although word has it Trump is considering Ted Cruz for that position). As far as I know, John Bolton, Newt Gingrich, Richard Haass, Bob Corker and Jeff Sessions are on the list as well.
But we now have a new name to add. I NEVER saw this one coming.
Apparently, Trump is also considering South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for the secretary of state position.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is under consideration by President-elect Donald Trump for secretary of state, and other cabinet positions, a transition source told CNN Wednesday, despite their rocky history.
Isn’t that something?
The two are meeting today to discuss possible Cabinet positions. Trump also plans to meet with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Cincinnati Mayor Ken Blackwell, Admiral Mike Rogers and Rep. Jeb Hensarling. Everyone’s dying to know who else he’ll meet with. It’s so bad that Drudge Report posted a link to a live video of the elevators at Trump Tower.
I love the speculation, but my favorite part of this process is watching Trump follow through with what he promised. According to reports, “anyone being vetted for a high post in the administration must provide a termination of lobbying form if they are registered lobbyists. In addition, when they leave the government, they will be banned from being a lobbyist for five years.”
He’s already draining the swamp. I love it.
