I couldn’t make this up if I tried.
You’ve heard of the female hygiene brand “Always,” right? Of course you have.
The brand aims to be a big part of every “growing” girl’s life. That time sucks, let’s be honest. It’s bad enough all on its own. Throw sexist emojis in the mix, and you have yourself a real problem.
“Do emojis really represent them?”
They want to know.
The “Always” brand actually blames emojis on a teenage girl’s lack of self-esteem. Can you say “First World Problems?”
“I want every girl to grow up knowing that she is capable of everything,” one of the girls in the ad says.
A girl plans her future based on the availability of emojis. Did you know that? Amazing, right? How ON EARTH did our mothers and grandmothers decide what they wanted to do for a living? There weren’t any doctor/teacher/lawyer/radio host/stay-at-home-mom emojis back then! How did they ever do it?????? Does women’s suffrage mean NOTHING to the emoji app developers of the world?

Perhaps “Always” should encourage young girls to download the Kimoji app. I hear they have some really powerful feminine emojis.
Again, they’re blaming EMOJIS on a hormonal teenager’s self-esteem issues. I can’t.
And people wonder why we call them the Snowflake Generation…
