Fox Business Network revealed Thursday’s debate line-up Monday night, and only seven candidates– Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush and John Kasich– made main the main stage debate.
Carly Fiorina and Rand Paul will join Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum at the kiddie table.
Sure, it sucks. When you’re out there campaigning every day and working your butt off, it has to be disheartening. But you know what? Deal with it. Make the best of it. Kick butt in the undercard debate and make your way to the top again. That’s what a leader would do, right? You make the best of it.
Paul’s not doing that. He’s actually throwing a mini temper tantrum and plans on skipping the undercard debate completely.
“I think they’ve made a mistake,” Paul said. “I’m not willing to accept a designation as a minor campaign. We’ve raised $25 million. We’ve gotten on the ballot on every state. It’s kind of ridiculous to arbitrarily rate the campaigns based on national polling.”
Come on. This was all based on national, Iowa and New Hampshire polling. He’s not doing well in any of those. Don’t blame the polls, Paul. Your message isn’t resonating. That’s the problem.
“It won’t take much for our supporters to understand why we’re doing this,” Paul said. “You want war? We’ll give it to you.”
So Paul’s declaring war by not participating in a presidential debate, which would give him much more publicity than he’s getting now.
I like Paul, but this (and his foreign policy stance) is one of the many reasons I could never get on board with him. He’s too whiny. Why can’t he just bow out gracefully?
