I hope you're sitting down for this, because it is sure to SHOCK AND SURPRISE YOU.
According to that sourcelink, Eric Holder said this past weekend that he and Obama have been targets of a "racial animus" by people opposed to them. He said to ABC,
“There's a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that's directed at me [and] directed at the president. You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There's a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some there's a racial animus."
Has anyone out there spoken with a person directly who has a problem with either Holder or Obama BECAUSE of their race? Anyone? Because I have yet to meet such a person.
I'm not saying racism doesn't exist. I'm just saying it's getting mighty tiresome to hear this total pile of BS every single time one of these clowns starts whining about people disagreeing with them. GUESS WHAT, Eric! If you were white as snow, I'd still disagree with pretty much everything you've done, because most of what you've done has been absolutely ridiculous.
Naturally, Holder used GOP efforts to have strict voter ID laws as proof that Republicans are trying to make it harder for minorities to have "access to the ballot." He plans to raise legal challenges in Ohio and Wisconsin against new voting laws there, and he's already filed suit in TX and NC. Hilariously, he said, "I'm attorney general of the United States. … I will not allow people to take away that which people gave their lives to give, and that is the ability for the American people to vote.”
What a complete load of crap. Republicans want every single eligible voter to show up at the polls, and Republicans believe in the ability for every single eligible voter to easily obtain ID. We don't think minorities are too stupid to get ID, or too incapacitated, or whatever other adjective you want to throw in there. We actually believe every American of voting age is perfectly capable of obtaining ID, because it's virtually impossible to function in society without it. You know what's racist? When Democrats insist that minorities can't possibly manage to obtain ID. That's a big, fat, racist insult.
What Republicans DON'T want is for dead people and fake people to vote. We don't want people to have more than one vote. We don't want to be intimidated by Black Panthers wielding nightsticks in front of polling places. Republicans, far more than Eric Holder, care deeply about the ability for the American people to vote. It's a shame he and other Democrats make such a mockery of "that which people gave their lives" to protect.
