I'm just going to preamble this with the fact that I am not a prepper – although I do live out in the country, just bought six chickens and named them after princesses (I can thank my 3-year old daughter for that). I'm not a prepper – I just aspire to be more self-serving, I suppose. And in doing so, I've become more aware of what my family would need IF, in fact, we were faced with shortages of, say, things like water and eggs and, well, ammo. And when you start looking at things in that way, you look at your local grocery store very differently than before. You look at your local Wal-Mart very differently. You look at Gander Mountain from where you buy ammo very differently. Because, if you're like me – you've at least seen shortages in the latter these days.
Again, awareness, folks.
So you can imagine my ears perking up a little when I hear that the DHS "just announced it plans to purchase another 360,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition to add to the roughly 2 billion bullets already bought over the past year."
2 BILLION rounds of ammo, y'all. Whaaa?
From Infowars (emphasis mine):
A solicitation on the Federal Business Opportunities website details the DHS’ plan to purchase 360,000 rounds of “Commercial leaded training ammo (CLTA) Pistol .40 caliber 165 grain, jacketed hollow point.” The bullets are to be delivered to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico, the same destination for 240,000 hollow point rounds which were purchased only last month.
Although the DHS has attempted to explain its mammoth purchase of ammunition by claiming the bullets are being acquired in bulk to save money and that they are for training purposes only, this has been disputed by reputable voices such as former Marine Richard Mason, who told reporters with WHPTV News in Pennsylvania earlier this month, “We never trained with hollow points, we didn’t even see hollow points my entire four and a half years in the Marine Corps.”
Hollow point bullets are almost twice as expensive as full metal jackets, therefore the DHS’ explanation that it is buying huge quantities in bulk to “save money” doesn’t make sense.
Of course, the lamestream media isn't reporting about this at ALL, and liberals are calling any and every conservative a wacked out conspiracy theorist for thinking that DHS is up to no good regarding this RIDICULOUS amount of ammo-purchasing. But behold all the tinfoil hat wearers, y'all:
And my personal favorite right-wing nutjob:
United States Army Captain Terry M. Hestilow, who sent a letter to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) "warning that the ammo purchases represent “a bold threat of war by that agency (DHS), and the Obama administration, against the citizens of the United States of America.”
Yeah. Those Army dudes don't know anything about war. You know who does, though, I've heard? Hairy-armpitted liberal chicks who don't get birth control paid for by taxpayers. TOTAL EXPERTS RIGHT THERE.
Nothing to see here, minions. Pay no attention to the large quantities of ammo being bought by your federal government.
MOVE ALONG.
