I Need To Rant About This Whole Royal Wedding Thing For A Minute

I need to vent.

I’m beyond sick of hearing about the upcoming royal wedding. I’m sick of the blind worship. I’m sick of members of the media fawning over them day in and day out. Seriously. It’s creepy. Why do we care about Meghan Markle’s single gray hair?

Why do we care about Kate Middleton’s un-pedicured toes?

Why do we care about Prince William nodding off in church?

Why do we idolize these people and treat them like they’re so damn special? Isn’t this everything we claim to be against? I’m talking to liberals AND conservatives here. Don’t we pride ourselves on spitting in the face of elitist structures? The royals are the epitome of elitism. We’re told that these people are of a higher class. They’re *special* and *important*.

Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t coming from a place of jealousy. There are a lot of people out there who are rich and influential. The difference is, the taxpayers in the UK subsidize this stupid faux monarchy in the name of tradition. It’s about $368 million to keep the operation going…per YEAR.

I just don’t get the entire system. It’s stupid and contrary to the values they claim to behold.

Maybe I wouldn’t be so pissy at the royals if they actually used their positions to make positive differences in the world. What am I getting at? I’ll tell you. My heart broke for the family of Alfie Evans, the little boy who died at the hands of the British government. That entire ordeal occurred around the same time as the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child. Everyone obsessed over the triumphant entrance of this perfect child. Meanwhile, the same UK government allowed Alfie to die, because he wasn’t as important. He’s not a royal. And you can be DAMN SURE that wouldn’t have happened to ANY of the royal babies. EVER.

If I were any of the royals, I wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut. I’d feel disgusted that people would be fawning over my child and dismissing the family of little Alfie. Why did none of them speak out in his defense?

That’s what I don’t understand. It’s all a game, and I think it’s sad that they all continue to play it. Their happy, royal fantasy life isn’t a REAL LIFE. Put down the ridiculous hat and stand up and use your influence to speak for those who have no voice.

It’s all so phony and ridiculous. I can’t stand it, and I can’t stand the obsession over the upcoming royal wedding. I’m not even interested in her stupid dress anymore. I don’t care.

The royals are annoying. If you wake up at 4:30 am to watch this thing, WHY?
