CNN’s Jim Acosta is on a roll. He’s humiliated himself quite a few times over the past week. I wonder if he’s going for some kind of personal record.
His latest flub is so bad, it’s good.
Last night, Acosta tried to provide a helpful analogy to explain the drama surrounding the Schumer shutdown, and this is what he came up with:
🚨 @Acosta on CNN just now: "This is turning into a Tide Pod kind of night. No one is willing to swallow a compromise"
— Jordan Fabian (@Jordanfabian) January 20, 2018
Oh Acosta. Was this you attempting to be hip and cool? Because FAIL.
I mean…wouldn’t this analogy be better if it involved something edible? YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO SWALLOW TIDE PODS. So no duh no one wants to swallow. What kind of jacked up analogy is that, Jim? Do YOU eat Tide pods?
If @Acosta chews a tide pod on air, I’ll never bad mouth CNN again.

I can’t go that far, but I can commit to not mocking them for a month or so. That’s my limit.
Me too, but for Hildy pic.twitter.com/OfkSpB5dop

HAHAHA.
What is life
— Diana Hussein (@heyadiana) January 20, 2018
I'm pretty sure @Acosta and @jaketapper eat a couple every morning to start the day. It wipes their memory so they can have a clear conscience while reporting #FakeNews.

Solid theory.
I honestly can't tell if Acosta doesn't get the meme, or if he gets it better than all of us https://t.co/BH69whR8eE

What a time to be alive. Or not, I guess. https://t.co/rmVdO7AYaW
— ana marie cox (@anamariecox) January 20, 2018
Yeah…it could go either way.
— K (@khansen) January 20, 2018
That's the worst analogy I've ever heard.
— Jennifer Willard (@ArtWillard) January 20, 2018
You and me both.
And the groundswell for Acosta to star in Anchorman 3 gains momentum.

Sad trombone https://t.co/hRTko3FzjK
— David Martosko (@dmartosko) January 20, 2018
That's … not a good analogy. https://t.co/pMw8Xn6BHi

Maybe Acosta needs to take a break. He needs a spa day with Chuck Schumer. They can go get man manicures and stare longingly at jars of delicious looking Tide pods together. I’m sure that would do wonders.
