NOT GUILTY.
He freaking ADMITTED to killing her… but you know. On “accident.”
BULL.
I followed this story pretty closely because I go to San Francisco often and walk along the pier where Kate was murdered. The thought of her walking along that pier and meeting her absolutely horrifying death often gave me chills. The thought of her daddy holding her as she died for NO REASON breaks my heart into a million pieces.
Today her murderer wipes his hands clean.
MY BLOOD IS ABSOLUTELY BOILING.
The Mexican illegal immigrant who admitted to shooting Kate Steinle in the back while she was walking with her father on a San Francisco pier on July 1, 2015 has been found not guilty of second-degree murder.
Jose Ines Garcia Zarate was charged with second-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Though he admitted to shooting the 32-year-old in the back, he said the gun went off accidentally.
He was also not found guilty of involuntary manslaughter or assault with a firearm, and was only indicted on being a felon in possession of a weapon.
The case took on political overtones and has fueled President Trump’s cries for defunding sanctuary cities and stricter immigration policies because Garcia Zarate is a Mexican citizen.
Before the shooting Garcia Zarate had been deported five times and served federal prison time for illegally re-entering the United States. He had also been released from the San Francisco jail about three months before the shooting, despite a request by federal immigration authorities to detain him for further deportation proceedings.
I can’t believe it. I’m so sick to my stomach.
San Francisco is a so-called sanctuary city that bars city officials from cooperating with federal immigration deportation efforts.
The jury reached its verdict Thursday and announced the decision after multiple days of deliberation. At some point during deliberation they asked to see the gun.
In her closing argument, Deputy District Attorney Diana Garcia told jurors that Garcia Zarate had found the gun somewhere and deliberately shot it toward Steinle while playing ‘his own secret version of Russian roulette.’
The bullet ricocheted on the pier’s concrete walkway before it struck Steinle.
Steinle died in her father’s arms.
I actually think I’m going to cry.
