Ariana Grande (the singer who licked a donut and said she hated America) just posted about a “traumatic” experience she had while getting some food with her boyfriend, Mac Miller. Apparently, they were followed by some sort of fan, who praised Mac. But the fan followed up by saying, “Ariana is sexy as hell man I see you, I see you hitting that!!!”
Cue the meltdown.

Look. It was a dumb comment from a classless fanboy. But Ariana went on and said it doesn’t matter that she prances around in her skivvies in her promiscuous music videos. That’s ART.
seeing a lot of “but look how you portray yourself in videos and in your music! you’re so sexual!” …. please hold.. next tweet… i repeat

expressing sexuality in art is not an invitation for disrespect !!! just like wearing a short skirt is not asking for assault.

So if a man acknowledges your sexiness, can’t he just say that he’s appreciating art?
Women’s choice. ♡ our bodies, our clothing, our music, our personalities….. sexy, flirty, fun.
it is not. an open. invitation.— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) December 28, 2016
No one’s saying it’s an open invitation to be harassed (it doesn’t sound like you were anyway), but it’s really, really, REALLY hard to take you seriously when you willingly present yourself as a promiscuous woman. Do you seriously expect fanboys to watch your music videos and go, “Wow. I bet she has a really great personality.”
You are literally saying that if we look a certain way, we are yours to take. But we are not !!! It’s our right to express ourselves. ♡

NO ONE IS SAYING THAT. The point here is, if you willingly objectify yourself, don’t act surprised when fanboys comment on your looks. You prance around practically naked on the regular. Please spare us the self-aggrandizement. You’re not standing up for other women. You’re drawing attention to yourself.
I’m just gonna leave this music video here.

If you want men to stop looking at you as a piece of meat, STOP PRESENTING YOURSELF AS A PIECE OF MEAT. It’s not that complicated.
But seriously.
Stop.
Objectifying.
Her.
Right.
Now.
She.
Means.
It.
