No tears here! Trump reacted positively to the news that Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her resignation on Friday. Greene’s last day will be January 5, 2026.
President Donald Trump on Friday night said it was “great news” that former ally GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) announced her coming resignation from Congress.
Trump and Greene recently had a falling out, which culminated in Trump saying he’d back a primary challenge against Greene.
“Just spoke with Pres. Trump on the phone. He said [Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene] resigning is ‘great news from the country,’” ABC News reporter Rachel Scott posted to X.
“I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great,” the president said.
Asked if Greene gave him a “heads up” about her resignation, Trump responded, “Nah, it doesn’t matter, you know but I think it’s great. I think she should be happy.”
Trump also told Scott that the rift between the pair only exists “between me and her, not her and me.”
“He said as of now, he has no plans to speak to her and wishes her well,” Scott added.
I’ve always thought she was on the cray side, so I’m not sad to see her go. Besides blurting out weird stuff periodically, I can’t think of anything notable she has accomplished.
But what DOES tick me off about her departure is that her resignation date is timed perfectly so she can collect her federal pension. HOW CONVENIENT. She does a poor job, quits early, and still gets all the cushy benefits. If that isn’t typical politician behavior, I don’t know what is.
