August 7, 2023WTF is happening to our military? And in the midst of being completely BROKE, giving 100s of billions to the Ukraine (you’re welcome for your pensions, Ukrainians!), and of course – giving Congress raises, this is happening on our dime:
Our priorities. Wow. Just wow.
But listen – I’m sure we’re going to be totally prepared when China and/or Russia invades us, though.

I retired in 1980 and I’m glad that I missed all the nonsense.
I commanded a battalion in Iraq 03-04. That was still the “don’t ask, don’t tell” era. We had a number of known or suspected gay soldiers (it had fewer letters/option then) but we really didn’t care and it was not a problem. I did have to deal with some zealous anti-homosexual senior officers, but that was minor. My far larger problem was heing and sheing that resulted in 3 ladies being sent home for pregnancy. One who was also sent home for pregnancy during Desert Shield. Commanders aren’t the moral police, but we are the guardians of order and discipline. I focused on two things: completing my mission, and bring all my soldiers home. Anything else was far down the priority list and frankly if I offended you (or your spouse) or you thought I infringed on your rights, I didn’t lose much sleep over that as long as I was doing a good job on the first two. The point is that while the military is one of the most inclusive institutions in the nation, it is not a social experiment. We have a distinct code of justice because historically, the country has recognized that when we are under threat of death, we require a higher standard of order and discipline. I am really disappointed with how Secretary Austin and GEN Milley have led the department. We are less safe because they have supported the woke agenda, regardless how reluctantly. In the process, they have alienated the reliable recruiting base who have lost faith in the institution. Thank God that any young people still join.
