There’s a disturbing clip making the rounds of Russia’s President Putin badly singing Fats Domino’s Blueberry Hill at some event at which many high-profile celebrities are in attendance – clearly enjoying the performance.
When I first saw it I was all, “Oh look – there’s another one of those deep fake thingies.”
But y’all. It’s real.

According to this, this horror show took place back in 2010, when celebrities like Goldie Hawn, Gerard DePardieu, Kevin Costner, and others attended a St Petersburg children’s charity benefit.
Sharon Stone, who was also in attendance, talked about the event on a TV appearance in 2018 and said, “Putin had invited us all to come to Russia—which I have to say, is a very beautiful place to go—so we went to raise money for a hospital for the children’s oncology ward at Christmastime.” She called the experience “extraordinary.”
Given all that is happening with Russia and Ukraine and the rest of the world right now, it’s jarring to watch American elites fawning over Putin, isn’t it?
History is weird.

It’s jarring, sure. But this was in 2010, before even the forced annexation of the Crimean peninsula. The only war mongering from Putin at that point had been the 2008 Russo-Georgian war. Too bad we didn’t learn from 2008 because Putin has done the same thing in Ukraine.
