January 13, 2023I was a Brownie when I was a little kid. I sucked at it, which is why I never advanced to Actual Girl Scouthood. Even back then, I was a person who avoided things that seemed like a lotta work. 🙂
Anyway, that’s not really important. What IS important, is that leftist woke ideology has permeated SO MUCH of the fabric of Western culture that Canada has decided the word “Brownie” is offensive and must be changed because of its racist connotations.
Here’s what the Canadian Girl Scouts (The GirlGuides) gave as their rationale for the name change: “‘With this new name we’re showing girls that what they say matters, and that Girl Guides is a place for everyone to belong.” But wait. There’s more.
THEY’RE GONNE BE CALLED EMBERS, you guys. OMG. The spokesperson explained further, “‘This wasn’t just about a name or its origin. This was about the fact that girls experienced racism and felt that they weren’t welcome in Girl Guides.”
They had to turn off comments on that tweet, presumably because reaction was similar to what our own Rachel’s was when I shared a link to this story in our group chat earlier today. She said, and I quote, “IT’S A DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE PASTRY CUBE F*CK OFF.”
She couldn’t be more right. Brownies ARE also delicious chocolate pastry cubes, and those cubes DO NOT NEED A NAME CHANGE.

So following that “logic”, is the word ‘brown’ racist? How about ‘red’ or ‘yellow’? And if those words are racist, how about ‘green’ which could be racist against fictional people from Mars?
