So earlier this week, we sold out CAMPTONO OUT WEST – our meet and greet happening in Phoenix on April 29th. We are SO STOKED to see all 400 of you. It’s gonna be so fun!
At the last meet and greet in Tampa this past September, we sold out exclusively to Facebook Insiders and Locals Supporters who had first dibs on tickets and snatched them all up before they were even opened up to the general public. It was awesome! And because of that, we knew immediately when we started seeing comments on our regular Facebook page from people saying they had tickets they were trying to sell, that they were scammers. NO ONE had tickets except for those two exclusive communities.
So this time around, I decided to make sure people were forewarned about scammers and bots. Here’s what I posted to our main FB page yesterday:

I mean, I get it. Clearly there are disgusting scammy people out there who’ve created bots that are instantly triggered into bot action as soon as there’s a post that says “tickets” and “sold out” anywhere. But you guys, I wasn’t prepared for the absolute ONSLAUGHT of bots that did exactly what I predicted. I responded to the ones I saw so that people who peruse comments wouldn’t be suckered in. Just look at this.

And this goes on and on and on, you guys. You can see the whole thread right here.
These are all accounts with legitimate looking profile photos, some have followers – and yet very few if any are actually real people – they’re just bot accounts managed by total scammers who get people to DM the accounts and swindle credit card info out of them. It’s absolutely insidious.
And it’s a microcosm, really, for what’s happening with bots in general. The thousands of political comments we might see, even on our own posts, are not always from legitimate people. It’s out of control, and I’m not sure why FB can’t eliminate accounts that clearly only respond to trigger words and post robotic comments like the ones you see above. Elon Musk is actually DOING that – fighting back against fake and bot accounts – and yet he’s getting hate from so many morons.
What’s Gleeborg 9 Zuckerberg doing about this? Anything?
Anyway, just watch yourselves, y’all. Don’t fall for scams.

It’s an unfortunate reality that there are bot accounts. It’s easy to fall for scammers.
I have a (legitimate) friend on Facebook who CONSTANTLY has fake military men trying to become friends with her. I copy and paste a standard “it’s illegal to impersonate military…” response. It’s just never ending. And these jerks actually think we’re that stupid. (They’re usually “generals.”)
adjusts tinfoil beret Sometimes I think Facebook and the old Twitter CREATE these bots. I’d like to know if liberal leaning events that are sold out get the same bot response. I wouldn’t be surprised if the two created bots to post replies and participate in polls to skew results or make people think the majority of people agree on certain issues when they really don’t. removes tinfoil beret and continues on with her day
I’m actually impressed at the variance in responses. It’s better than the MSM (Democrat) talking points.
