Billy Eichner has a new movie out about gay dudes. It’s a queer rom-com, if you will. And apparently, according to critics, it’s great. But even though it had a 22 million dollar budget, it didn’t manage to pull in even $5 million at the box office. Yikes.
Here’s a summary of Eichner before and after the release of the film. A story in four parts:

Let’s review one by one, shall we? August 12, Eichner was feeling very IN YOUR FACE about the release of his film.
Fast forward to September 23rd. The reviews started coming out (no pun intended).
Fast forward again to September 27. Someone’s feeling awfully confident, isn’t someone?
And then? Here’s what Billy came out (no pun intended) with after the dismal weekend results.
“Straight people just didn’t show up for Bros,” he said.
I’m gonna try to break this to Billy gently, but it’s entirely possible that there were plenty of gay people uninterested in this movie also. Maybe regular normal sensible logical people everywhere don’t need MORE of the queer agenda thrown at them, and certainly aren’t willing to spend movie ticket money on it.
The disdain Billy has for straight people “in certain parts of the country” is just downright laughable. What a little b*tch. 🙂

Look Eichner, just because I don’t agree with your lifestyle, it doesn’t mean that I hate you, so knock it off with the conflation! Some people didn’t watch your movie because they were busy with work, (like I was) school, raising children and other more pressing aspects of everyday life. In the case of people living in parts of Florida affected by Hurricane Ian, they didn’t watch your movie because they are busy putting their lives back together in the aftermath. What’s next, movies that glorify rape and/or pedophilia?
Golly! You make a movie appealing to less than a few percent of the population and are upset that it did not do well at its opening? How effing stupid are you? And then you blame the people who are not interested in the subject matter art all for your failure? So arrogant as well as stupid – not a really good combo.
But hey, you do know all the pronouns!
I guess I’m not just a “homophobe” but a lot of other “…phobes” too. Because I haven’t seen a single movie coming out of Holly-weird in the last 3 or 4 years that I have had any desire to go see!!!! And based on this guy’s opinion, if I don’t want to go see a movie, I must have a “…phobe” of some sort for whatever that movie is about.
I always thought that “phobe” meant “fear”. I don’t fear homosexuals. I just find their lifestyles to be nasty and immoral. So, no, I don’t have any interest in sitting through a movie about that lifestyle (even if you offered me a free ticket with free sodas and popcorn). And seeing the numbers for this movie, it appears that I’m not alone. Instead of attacking people and calling them names, maybe this loser should be realistic and realize the problem is the content, not the fact that people don’t want to see it.
Two things- 1- Rotten Tomatoes was caught just last week faking their scores, so I don’t care what they are. 2-Make a movie people want to see and they will. Brokeback Mountain and The Bird Cage are two “gay” movies that spring to mind. Almost nobody had problems with them. This movie sounds like an “agenda movie” and people are just sick of that.
Don’t forget the comedies Kingpin, which had the Chris Elliot/Randy Quaid Indecent Proposal scene and the got milk joke.
“Roy: Morning! I hope you don’t mind, I got up a little early, so I took the liberty of milking your cow for you. Yeah, it took a little while to get her warmed up, she sure is a stubborn one. Then, POW, all at once. [Takes a drink from the bucket]
Mr. Boorg: We don’t have a cow. We have a bull.
Roy: I’ll brush my teeth.”
I was laughing so hard over the bull joke, I forgot to cite. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116778/
Gee, why wouldn’t a movie about gay men be appealing to straight people? Maybe for the same reason there are separate porn flicks for gay and straight people. Who wants to spend big money on entertainment that doesn’t connect to you, that you can’t relate to? Go ahead and make LGBT movies and shows but don’t be surprised if you have a very small audience because that is representative of your target audience. Homophobia has nothing to do with it but audience appeal does.
“What a little btch” sums this Billy guy up perfectly. I guess when you fck around, you find out … people of all walks of life don’t like your stupid movie!
