Neil Cavuto Lays Into Trump: ‘That’s Your Swamp’

I’ve always liked Neil Cavuto. He’s honest, and he’s a trooper (for those who don’t know, he’s been dealing with a lot of health-related stuff). I’ve always valued his opinion, so naturally, I was interested in his take on the whole Stormy Daniels payout fiasco.

He was BRUTALLY honest.

“Let me be clear, Mr. President. How can you drain the swamp if you’re the one that keeps muddying the waters? You didn’t know about the $130,000 payment to a porn star until you did,” Cavuto said.

He’s referring to these tweets, in which Trump admitted to knowing about the payout after all:

…very common among celebrities and people of wealth. In this case it is in full force and effect and will be used in Arbitration for damages against Ms. Clifford (Daniels). The agreement was used to stop the false and extortionist accusations made by her about an affair,……

…despite already having signed a detailed letter admitting that there was no affair. Prior to its violation by Ms. Clifford and her attorney, this was a private agreement. Money from the campaign, or campaign contributions, played no roll in this transaction.

Back to Cavuto…

“You said you knew nothing about your lawyer Michael Cohen handling this, until acknowledging today you were the guy behind the retainer payment that took care of this,” he said. “You insist that money from the campaign or campaign contributions played no role in this transaction. Of that you’re sure. The thing is, not 24 hours ago, sir, you couldn’t recall any of this. And you seemed very sure.”

I’m not saying you’re a liar,” Cavuto continued. “You’re a president, you’re busy. I’m having a devil of a time figuring out which news is fake. Let’s just say that your own words on lots of stuff gave me lots of pause.”

“I guess you’re too busy draining the swamp to ever stop and smell the stink you’re creating,” Cavuto added. “That’s your doing. That’s your stink, Mr. President, that’s your swamp.”

Loved every second of it. Finally someone on Fox that sees what is going on and has the integrity and courage to tell it like it is. I use to watch Fox all the time, but since it has become the Trump News Network and cheering section, I rarely watch. Great job, Neil!

Listen– I’m all about holding Trump accountable. That’s the mistake conservatives CANNOT make. Don’t be like the creepy Democrats who act like their leaders can do no wrong. NO ONE is perfect. We should hold Trump accountable for his words, but we ALSO have to remember that we’re dealing with an extremely hostile press that’s hell-bent on delegitimizing his presidency. It’s up to us to distinguish the fake news from the real stuff.

As far as the Stormy Daniels payout goes, I think Trump should’ve just admitted it from the beginning. While I think it’s stupid and irrelevant, he should’ve just said, “Yeah– I had an affair and paid her off. It was a long time ago, and I’ve worked through it with my family.” The end.

Anyway, I think it’s kinda ridiculous to completely dismiss Cavuto as a closet lib Trump hater. We’re allowed to be critical. Blind devotion to political figures is dangerous. You don’t have to agree with what he’s saying, but it’s OK to support Trump AND admit that Cavuto has some valid points.
