Well, the interview is officially here, and ugh. Sandmann is just a kid. I mean, I knew he was, but this just reminded me of that fact.
He maintained that he didn’t disrespect Phillips but said he wishes he would’ve just walked away. Probably because ALL OF THIS HAPPENED TO HIM. And no. He’s not apologizing, because he didn’t do anything wrong. There’s nothing to apologize for. If anything, Phillips should apologize for lying about the incident and about “serving” in Vietnam (he didn’t).
I also loved what Sandmann said about the “look” on his face. He said he saw it as a smile (which it was, and with the additional context of what REALLY happened, we KNOW that now), and his smile said, “This is the best you’re going to get out of me. You won’t get any further reaction of aggression, and I’m willing to stand here as long as you want to hit this drum in my face.”
