It looks like Michael Cohen is in for a world of hurt.
If the federal prosecutors on his case get their way, that is.
According to Fox News:
Federal prosecutors said Friday that Michael Cohen “repeatedly used his power and influence for deceptive ends” in a court document recommending prison time for President Trump’s longtime attorney.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York filed the memo describing “a pattern of deception” committed by Cohen that led him to committing four federal crimes over a period of several years.
“He was motivated to do so by personal greed, and repeatedly used his power and influence for deceptive ends,” the 30-page memo reads. “The crimes committed by Cohen were more serious than his submission allows and were marked by a pattern of deception that permeated his professional life (and was evidently hidden from the friends and family members who wrote on his behalf).”
Now he’s looking at hard time.
Friday’s recommendation denies Cohen’s request of “no jail time” and instead calls for “a substantial term of imprisonment” come sentencing day on Dec. 12.
And his “cooperation” with Mueller isn’t going to save him:
The filing acknowledges that while Cohen had worked with officials and disclosed important information to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, his efforts were “overstated.”
“To be clear: Cohen does not have a cooperation agreement … and therefore is not properly described as a ‘cooperating witness,’ as that term is commonly used in this District.”
