I’m not against Black Friday shopping. There are some solid deals out there, but here’s the thing: Most stores start their deals a day or two before, and most of the time, you can get the deals online. I don’t see the point in going shopping on Thanksgiving Day. I prefer to use that day to relax and hang out with family.
Every year, I go out in the morning to get a paper with the Black Friday ads, and my mom and I go through it together during breakfast. We never actually end up jumping on any of the deals, because we’re not into shopping on Thanksgiving OR getting up stupid early to maybe possibly get the doorbuster deal.
I actually ventured out on Black Friday, but not until right before noon. I’m not even sure if that counts, but I felt really accomplished. I ordered a KitchenAid mixer at Target and got the doorbuster deal ONLINE and picked it up at the store the next day. I’d much rather do that than show up at 6 am and fight some random lady over the last one on the shelf. You know, kinda like what went down at the Walmart in Rockmart, Georgia:
For crying out loud! Those are two GROWN WOMEN fighting over pots and pans. It’s just pathetic. I’m so ridiculously glad I avoided that level of mayhem. It’s just not worth it. I’d rather pay full price.
