Kaitlan Collins Forced To Apologize For Being An Idiot In College, Because This Is Our World Now.

Perhaps you recall that our own Hannah has some personal experience with now-CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins. 

She doesn’t sound like the sharpest tool in the shed, that Kaitlan.  And it turns out, she’s got a bit of a history of saying really stupid crap.

According to this, some folks from the Log Cabin Republicans (self-described as the country’s largest GOP org dedicated to LGBT issues) dug up some old tweets of Kaitlan’s, from when she was back in college, and long before she’d started her career in “journalism.” (And yes, in her case I use that term very very very loosely.)

One tweet used the word “f*g” and another one said that she didn’t know if she wanted to “room with a lesbian.” In other words, Kaitlan had herself a touch of the homophobes. Or at least, her tweets made it appear as though that was the case.

And now, because people today are required to denounce every mistake they made in their youth if they want to continue having careers, Kaitlan is apologizing.

The Washington Post was the original outlet to publish/report on Kaitlan’s earlier tweets, because of course they were.

CNN hasn’t issued an official comment on Kaitlan’s old tweets yet.

You guys, listen.  She sounds like a moron for a number of reasons.  First, because of the dumbass tweets Hannah referenced in the earlier-linked source at the top of this post.  But also because apparently after joining CNN in 2017, she managed to get herself banned from a White House event after trying to ask President Trump obnoxious questions.  Sarah Sanders ripped on her, saying, “…a @CNN reporter disrespected @POTUS & PM May during their press conf. Instead of rewarding bad behavior, we decided to reprioritize the TV appearances for administration officials.’

And we now live in a culture which demands that if you’re remotely in the public eye whatsoever, your entire history must be scrutinized, picked apart, and apologized for – even the stupid crap you did in high school and college.  And I gotta say, I kinda hate that. There are a precious few people who DIDN’T do stupid crap in high school and college, so I’m not sure why this is our new national habit and standard.

At the same time, Kaitlan, who is ostensibly a reporter for CNN who’s supposed to be unbiased and impartial, makes it painfully clear from her RECENT tweets that she’s incapable of doing her job without bias, so I can’t say that I’m sympathizing with her all that much right now.

The point is – if people are going to be out for blood and diving into the teenage years of everyone who’s in a public position, then they should probably be ready to face the same scrutiny – now or in the future.  There’s that whole “what’s good for the goose” saying. And that whole, “People who live in glass houses” saying.  And probably a whole bunch of other fitting sayings.

You know what I think would be great?  If everyone could just stop being jerks and judge people on their Actual Career History, instead of picking apart juvenile tweets and yearbook terms.
