Secret Service Intercepts Suspicious Envelope Addressed To President Trump

Two people were taken to the hospital earlier today after being exposed to a powdery white substance at Sen. Ted Cruz’s office in Houston, Texas. It sounds like it was a false alarm, thank goodness.

Two people were taken to the hospital after apparently being exposed to a white powdery substance in an office building at 3200 SW Fwy. The 9th floor of the Phoenix Tower has been evacuated as HFD HazMat is responding to the scene working to determine the nature of the substance.

The evacuation order has been lifted for the office building at 3200 SW Fwy. All tests were negative for any hazardous substance.

Update on 3200 SW Fwy incident: Field test conducted by HFD were negative for any hazardous substance. Samples were packaged for the FBI to take to the lab for more extensive testing. The FBI is the lead agency for additional questions.

However, two suspicious packages were sent to the Pentagon. They were addressed to Defense Secretary James Mattis and Admiral John Richardson.

The packages never made their way into the Pentagon, but were flagged in a mail delivery building next door on Monday, the spokesman said. Initial tests were positive for ricin, a posion made from castor beans, but the FBI is now currently doing analysis to make final determinations.

There’s more. The Secret Service has confirmed that a suspicious envelope was sent to President Trump as well.

Two other envelopes suspected of containing ricin were found at a Pentagon mail screening facility Monday, authorities said.

Ricin can be lethal.
