Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are pushing to have the Russell Senate Office Building renamed after the late John McCain.
…and it has NOTHING to do with honoring his legacy.
In fact, Dana Perino explains how this is actually a really manipulative ploy to divide Republicans ahead of midterm elections.
WATCH:
“It wasn’t that long ago, it was actually exactly ten years ago that a lot of Democrats and their faithful allies and the press corps were slandering John McCain as a racist radical, a white ring wing buffoon. Now they want to name buildings after him.”
BINGO… it’s fishy to say the least.
“It’s sincere but also very politically clever on behalf of Senator Schumer. Democrats loved John McCain when he was going against President Bush in the 2,000 campaign, they could not stand him when he was against Obama. And they loved him again when he was the foil against President Trump.”
So the Democrats have a long love-hate relationship with him, to be sure. But she seems to think this “memorial” has VERY ulterior motives:
“Schumer has ensured that Republicans are going to be divided on this issue.
All of these candidates on the Republican primaries are going to be asked, ‘are you for renaming this building’ and they will face two things.”
One, it’s a distraction. They’d rather talk about the accomplishments of the Trump Administration and the Republican Congress. Number two, it ensures that members of the Congress and the Senators, do you think that they want to get on the record talking about this when President Trump is watching? One tweet from President Trump could make a huge difference, and you could win by 27 points in a primary.”
She’s COMPLETELY RIGHT.
This is so. freaking. SLIMY!
And while Schumer doesn’t deserve much credit… she IS giving him some credit for how cleverly devious this is:
“I admire politics and I think that Senator Schumer has very few cards to play, especially on the biggest issue of this fall and that is the nomination and confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. He can count votes just like anyone else,” she told Carlson.
“But there’s one thing that the Democrats really know how to do and that is to inject something like this into an election cycle to try to hurt Republicans. It’s clever!”
Clever like a SCUMRAT.
