This is chilling to the core.
Rep. Steve Scalise almost lost his life last year after a deranged lunatic opened fire during a congressional baseball practice. It was a long recovery, but Scalise made it back to Capitol Hill and the baseball field.
Unfortunately, the hate is still out there.
According to this, Scalise received a “credible” death threat. Police have arrested Carlos Bayon, 63. He allegedly left extremely threatening voicemails.
Here’s what he said in one of the voicemails:
“Hey listen, this message is for you and the people that sent you there. You are taking ours, we are taking yours. Anytime, anywhere. We know where they are. We are not going to feed them sandwiches, we are going to feed them lead. Make no mistake you will pay. Ojo por ojo, diente por diente [Spanish for ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’]. That is our law and we are the majority. Have a good day.”
It sounds like he was mad about the whole “family separation” issue on the border, WHICH IS NO EXCUSE.
According to U.S. Attorney James Kennedy, authorities found “very concerning” items at his home. Oh. And Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers was ALSO threatened by Bayon.
Police arrest 63 yr-old Carlos Bayon & charge him with leaving threatening voicemails for Scalise & Hse GOP Conf Chair McMorris Rodgers. Scalise spox: Scalise is grateful to law enforcement..He will never forget how their heroism saved his life & those of his colleagues last year

“Whip Scalise is grateful to law enforcement for their actions. He will never forget how their heroism saved his life and those of his colleagues last year,” Scalise spokeswoman Lauren Fine told The Hill in a statement. “As he has said before, there is absolutely no place in our political discourse for violent threats.”
Thank goodness they arrested this horrific man.
