Actor Tim Allen took to X to discuss his own journey of forgiveness and how Erika’s eulogy touched him. Tragically, Allen’s father was killed by a drunk driver when Allen was just a kid. Like many of us, Erika’s words and strength left a positive, lasting impression on Allen.
When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: “That man… that young man… I forgive him.” That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: “ I forgive the man who killed my father.” Peace be with you all.
As someone who tends to run on the angry side, I am in awe of Erika’s grace as she grieves. She is going through an absolute nightmare, but rather than turn bitter and angry, we are watching her lean on Jesus in real time. Her faith is inspiring others to let go of years of anger as well, and it is a beautiful thing to watch. Charlie would be so proud.
