Prior to his murder, I remember seeing a video of Charlie Kirk expressing how he enjoyed the recent episode of “South Park” he was featured in. I don’t watch South Park, but it made me smile that Charlie was a good sport about being featured and that he seemed to genuinely get a kick out of it.
After the tragic events on September 10, however, Paramount made the decision to pull the episode. I get why they did it, and I appreciate that Paramount is trying to be respectful. But according to those close to Charlie, he’d want the episode back on air.
Andrew Kolvet, an executive producer for The Charlie Kirk Show and a spokesperson for Turning Point USA, Kirk’s nonprofit that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college and university campuses, took to X on Thursday, Sept. 18, to explain why he believes the episode should be reinstated.
“Hey @paramountplus, as someone who can speak with some authority on this, Charlie loved that he was featured in South Park. He told me many times,” Kolvet wrote. “He would want the episode back up.”
The episode in question is the second episode of season 27, which originally aired Aug. 6 and is titled “Got a Nut.”
In the episode, Eric Cartman takes issue with classmate Clyde Donovan and accuses him of “stealing my shtick” for starting a right-wing podcast and “masterdebating” those who don’t agree with his beliefs. Cartman adopts Kirk’s real-life hairstyle and starts his own competing and successful podcast, but Clyde ultimately wins the “Charlie Kirk Award for Young Masterdebaters” — and a vacation to Mar-a-Lago — over him.
After it aired, Kirk shared a TikTok in which he called the episode “hilarious” and claimed it acknowledged the “viral, cultural domination” of the ideals he stood for.
“There’s gonna be a lot said about this, but we need to have a good spirit about being made fun of,” he said on Aug. 7. “This is all a success. This is all a win. We, as conservatives, we have thick skin. Not thin skin. You can make fun of us. It doesn’t matter. Until next time, I hope all of you become ‘masterdebaters’ for truth.”
If Paramount has Erika’s blessing, I say we put the episode back on. Charlie clearly enjoyed it, and it’s just one more way to remember what a cool guy he was.
