May 9, 2018This just in. Residents in the Golan Heights have been urged to take shelter. Here’s what we know.
Sirens sounded in the Golan Heights overnight Wednesday-Thursday, as Arabic-language reports said Israel targeted a Syrian regime post across the border with artillery fire, amid sky high tensions on the northern border.
The Israeli army said it was investigating what had triggered the sirens. The alarm came a day after the military called on local governments on the Golan Heights to open bomb shelters, in light of “abnormal” activities by Iranian forces in Syria.
The IDF Home Front Command confirmed the sirens were triggered, instructing residents to enter bomb shelters.
