Barbara Bush’s grandaughters, including twins Jenna and Barbara, gave emotional tributes to their beloved grandmother as she was laid to rest today in Houston.
Jenna Bush Hager spoke first and fought tears as she read Proverbs 31: 25 which describes what a Godly wife is.
‘She makes linen garments and sells them. She supplies the merchant with sashes.
‘Strength and dignity are her clothing and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
‘She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat bread of idleness.
‘Her children rise up and call her happy. Her husband too. And he praises her.
‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all,’ she said.
Noelle Lucila Bush, Marshall Lloyd Bush Rossi, Nancy LeBlond Sosa, Ashley Walker Bush and Georgia Grace Koch also spoke.
Barbara then recited from II Corinthians 4:16-5:9.
‘Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.’
After the ceremony, the twins left St Martin’s Episcopal Church holding hands.

Here’s a full video of the service, including Barbara’s reading of II Corinthians 4:16-5:9 at the 11:20 minute mark.
As I’ve said before, the outpouring of love has made it clear that all who knew Barbara adored her.
She will be missed.
May she rest in peace.
