‘Roseanne’ Jokes About “Diverse” Comedies ‘Black-ish’ and ‘Fresh Off The Boat’ … People Are PISSED

Roseanne continues… and of course, people are looking for more reasons to be pissed about it.

She apparently made a HORRIFICALLY RACIST joke about the ABC shows ‘Black-ish’ and ‘Fresh Off The Boat’

According to Daily Mail:

The sitcom Roseanne has drawn backlash over a joke that seemingly poked fun at the sitcom’s fellow ABC comedies Black-ish and Fresh Off The Boat.

The joke came in Tuesday night’s episode of the wildly popular sitcom reboot, in a scene in which Dan and Roseanne wake up on the living room couch realizing they’ve slept through prime time.

‘What time is it?’ Dan says. ‘Did we miss dinner?’

Roseanne responds: ‘It’s 11 o’clock. We slept from Wheel to Kimmel.’

‘We missed all the shows about black and Asian families,’ Dan says.

‘They’re just like us. There, now you’re all caught up!’ Roseanne responds.

OMG. OH. MY. GOD.

THIS IS SO, SO BAD.

Wait… did I miss something? That’s it?

Yeah. That’s it. But people are freaking out.

ABC shelved an episode of Black-ish citing “creative differences“ because it was about football players kneeling in protest. Yet they have Roseanne coming back as a Trump supporter, taking shots at shows like Black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat.

So… Roseanne can agressively turn of the TV when faced with “blacks and asians” and proclaim in a nasty ass tone “They’re just like us! Now you’re all caught up.” But Black-ish can’t even acknowledge Kap & modern day social injustice protests?

Uhhh… only that didn’t even happen. She literally slept through it. There was no “aggressive” turning off of the TV. But nice try, “Liberal Redneck.”

The co-showrunner felt the need to talk about it since apparently everyone else did.

In an interview published the night the episode aired, Roseanne co-showrunner Bruce Helford explained the joke to THR: ‘We were commenting on the fact that all sitcoms really want everybody to feel included of all diversities and it’s kind of a funny thing. That’s all.’

‘When we did the George Lopez show, we didn’t want anybody to feel excluded because it was about a Mexican-American family. And I don’t think anybody wants to be excluded because it’s [a show about] either a black family or an Asian-American family,’ Helford continued.

RIGHT.

So people are all upset that Roseanne said minorities are “just like us?!” (SPOILER ALERT: Roseanne is white) Is that bad? To feel like at the end of the day, people are all just people? I thought that was what people who SCREAM for diversity on TV were hoping for. I’m sorry.

At the end of the day the joke isn’t making fun of minorities. It’s making fun of how HARD “diversity” programming is trying to sell us on this whole “OMG WE’RE ALL DIFFERENT AND ALL THE SAME AND DIVERSITY IS OUR STRENGTH” stuff.

Get the eff over it.

Roseanne, focused on a white working-class family in rural Illinois, has drawn massive audiences in its first weeks, particularly in parts of the country that voted for President Donald Trump.

Star Roseanne Barr, like her character a Trump supporter, has become a lightning rod for criticism from left-leaning critics. Trump himself has praised the show for highlighting the every-day concerns of his working-class base, which only increased the fury of detractors.

The “outrage” with this joke had nothing to do with the joke itself, and everything to do with Trump Derangement Syndrome.

People are just looking for more reasons to be outraged about this show.
