This just gets worse and worse.
At this point, we all know that people missed tons of red flags on Cruz. He freaked other kids out. They were afraid of him. The police showed up to his home what? 39 times in the past? Last month, someone close to Cruz warned the FBI that Cruz was likely about to snap.
Need I remind you of the FBI’s excuse?
On January 5, 2018, a person close to Nikolas Cruz contacted the FBI’s Public Access Line (PAL) tipline to report concerns about him. The caller provided information about Cruz’s gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.
Under established protocols, the information provided by the caller should have been assessed as a potential threat to life. The information then should have been forwarded to the FBI Miami Field Office, where appropriate investigative steps would have been taken.
We have determined that these protocols were not followed for the information received by the PAL on January 5. The information was not provided to the Miami Field Office, and no further investigation was conducted at that time.
FBI Director Christopher Wray said:
“We are still investigating the facts. I am committed to getting to the bottom of what happened in this particular matter, as well as reviewing our processes for responding to information that we receive from the public. It’s up to all Americans to be vigilant, and when members of the public contact us with concerns, we must act properly and quickly.
“We have spoken with victims and families, and deeply regret the additional pain this causes all those affected by this horrific tragedy. All of the men and women of the FBI are dedicated to keeping the American people safe, and are relentlessly committed to improving all that we do and how we do it.”
And… nothing.
It gets worse. There was another specific warning prior to that.
According to Jake tapper, a tipster called BSO to say Cruz “could be a school shooter in the making,” and deputies didn’t even bother to write a report.
This is horrific. “In November, a tipster called BSO to say Cruz ‘could be a school shooter in the making’ but deputies did not write up a report on that warning. It came just weeks after a relative called urging BSO to seize his weapons.” https://t.co/3gtwGPl6bo

Wait. There’s more.
More: ”Two years ago, according to a newly released timeline of interactions with Cruz’s family, a deputy investigated a report that Cruz ‘planned to shoot up the school’ – intelligence that was forwarded to the school’s resource officer, with no apparent result.” https://t.co/rgRB3vpfJa

This kid repeatedly threatened to shoot up the school, and no one took it seriously. A school’s resource officer didn’t do anything. That’s all this comes down to.
I’m still 100% on board with adding additional lines of defense in our schools, but catching the killer before they carry out their evil acts– THAT’S the goal. THAT’S ideal.
You mean all these failures from the office of the same sherriff who just lectured everybody on gun control?
That guy?
— MatttisFan (@GenMatttisJ) February 23, 2018
YUP. That’s the one! Odd that this information didn’t come out until after the CNN’s debate on guns.
And yet you gave the sheriff a national stage to blame the NRA and Congress @jaketapper https://t.co/cwUiqgZn56

CNN needs to have another town hall meeting with the BSO Sheriff and ask him about wth is going on in his office? He didn’t mention this last night!!!! @jaketapper https://t.co/7HlKMcGhFg

Perhaps the sheriff, who knew his deputies had been to Cruz’s home 39 times, should RESIGN.
Nobody killed people but Cruz. But the ineptness of local and federal law enforcement allowed this to happen.— DeeDee Wiese (@ddwiese) February 23, 2018
A real shame none of this came out before last night’s televised town hall featuring the sheriff, isn’t it? https://t.co/4zqDPnyGd2
— Cam Edwards (@CamEdwards) February 23, 2018
Mhm. It’s a mighty pity.
And you just sat there as he blamed Dana Loesch. https://t.co/Kt2jwHUESw

That Sheriff owes @DLoesch an apology.
— Rick Moore (@RickMoore) February 23, 2018
Agreed. An apology is most definitely in order.
People should have been made aware of this before last nights CNN townhall, no? Hard time believing all this JUST came to light.
At the very least Sheriff Israel knew. Cowardly actions by Sheriff Israel & he should resign over this incompetence.https://t.co/Q2PX30yFUL— Chris 🇺🇸 (@Cb10n) February 23, 2018
Coincidence that all of this is being reported a day after that BS town hall at fake news central. Didn’t suit the “attack conservatives and NRA” script. 🤔 https://t.co/ETSd9EaEFQ
— Jean Pennie (@jeanpennie) February 23, 2018
Incompetence at every level of this guy’s department but CNN got their show trial to take it out on people who had zero to do with it.
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) February 23, 2018
No words for how frustratingly incompetent law enforcement at every level was in this case. The sheriff had NO BUSINESS berating Dana Loesch at that ridiculous CNN ambush. Shameful. https://t.co/1L7LzVw30I
— Chicks On The Right (@chicksonright) February 23, 2018
Shameful indeed.
