It’s portrait time!
As you know, I’m not a fan of the Obamas, but that didn’t stop me from wanting to see their official portraits. Michelle just unveiled hers at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. She said a few words too. She said we have a “lot more work to do,” which was expected. It’s her go-to phrase.

She also made her portrait about race, because of course she did.
“I’m also thinking about all the…girls and girls of color, who in years ahead will come to this place…will see an image of someone who looks like them hanging on the wall of this great American institution.” -Michelle Obama unveils her official portrait pic.twitter.com/G4OYwRxWaw

Here’s a closer look:
It…looks nothing like her.
Am I the only one who thinks it doesn’t look a thing like her?
— Lisa J. Yarde (@lisajyarde) February 12, 2018
Nope.
It doesn’t! They drew someone with much more white features. You can’t tell me that with every talented artist in the U.S. they couldn’t have found someone better at painting! Just wild!

Is that the same women who painted this? pic.twitter.com/i3cWqVNjtb

Ouch.
Doesn’t really look like her.

Sorry, not lovin this

This is a beautiful portrait. It looks very little like Michelle Obama pic.twitter.com/1CsRrWIJtN

But…But…it doesn’t look anything like her. Just saying.

Yikes! 🎨

Worst likeness ever. A portrait has one job, and this picture of some random woman doesn’t do that job

Must have been drawn by the same person that drew Tom Brady in court during Deflate Gate #Deflategate pic.twitter.com/wW2PvNe4DW
— Genereation X’er (@True_Gen_Xer) February 12, 2018
that looks awful.
— Dan Weigle (@dan_weigle) February 12, 2018
Lmao that looks nothing like her

His is a lot better, I will say that.
He said some remarks too. He said he believes politics is “expecting that the country unfolds from the top down, but rather that it comes from the bottom up,” which is hilarious to hear from a career elitist.

“I tried to negotiate less gray hair,” Obama jokes. “I tried to negotiate smaller ears. Struck out on that as well.” https://t.co/GnFE680HQO pic.twitter.com/UJEk3I2gBt

I do appreciate the self-deprecating humor. I’ll admit that.
But yeah. Everyone seems to agree that Michelle’s portrait doesn’t look anything like her.
I don’t think Michelle Obama’s official portrait actually looks like her

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… they mad at Michelle?
— Steacy Curry 💎 (@SteacyC) February 12, 2018
The painter who made Michelle Obama’s portrait went to the same art school as the person who made Disney’s animatronic Trump.
— Charter (@realCharter) February 12, 2018
I definitely would have called for a redo on that portrait
— katiebekx (@KateBekx) February 12, 2018
The consensus is in. That woman is NOT Michelle.
