“Oprah Winfrey said she has no interest in running for president in 2020 because she doesn’t have the “DNA” for it.”
That’s what Page Six is saying. Oprah Winfrey doesn’t have the DNA to be president (True) … but she DOES have the DNA to get a bunch of attention from a swirling rumor mill. Of course she does. The mighty O thrives on attention. THAT is in her DNA.
Anyway, yeah… she’s not running:
“I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not,” Winfrey told InStyle magazine. “And so it’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it.”
She recalled in the interview published online Thursday how her long-time friend, Gayle King, an anchor at “CBS This Morning,” would text her messages from people encouraging her to run.
“Gayle … has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, ‘When’s Oprah going to run?’ So Gayle sends me these things, and then she’ll go, ‘I know, I know, I know! It wouldn’t be good for you – it would be good for everyone else,’” she told the magazine. “I met with someone the other day who said that they would help me with a campaign. That’s not for me.”
Ok… but she MET with this person. Gayle, who she is OBVIOUSLY in constant communication with, also said she was thinking about it. And of course Oprah let these rumors live on. So, did she only just recently realize “she doesn’t have the DNA for it”?
So many questions.
Speculation that the billionaire media titan would throw her hat in the ring exploded after she gave an emotion speech at the Golden Globes earlier this month when she addressed race relations in the country and the #metoo movement.
And she loved eeeeevery second of it. SURELY.
So that’s that… and to be honest, I’m bummed.
Why? Because my entire job is writing about this kind of stuff… and while I don’t believe she would win… I DO believe it would have been a CIRCUS… which of course is fun to write about.
#Oprah2020 would have CERTAINLY kept me busy… and you entertained.
Don’t you worry… it will be a circus either way. (Or worry. You should worry. WTH is happening to our country?)
She’ll stick to more important things… like that new line of soup she has out.
