Why, Trump? WHY DO YOU INSIST ON STABBING YOURSELF IN YOUR OWN FACE?

I gotta vent, y’all.

If you missed WH Chief of Staff John Kelly’s appearance on Special Report the other night, it was absolutely awesome. Take a look.

He reminds me of Dick Cheney in many ways. Gruff, stern, serious, competent, unwilling to take any crap. I love all of those things about him. And when he talked about President Trump’s “evolving” on the issue of the border wall, he was helping Trump LOOK GOOD. He was helping Trump LOOK COMPETENT. It’s perfectly reasonable and in fact, expected, that when a president receives new information about something, his position on that something is likely to evolve as a result.

There’s nothing wrong with that.  There was nothing in Kelly’s statement that made Trump look weak, or look incapable, etc.  All he said was that once Trump received all the information about the border that he needed, his position evolved.  He talked about how Mexico could end up paying for the wall indirectly (they’re obviously not gonna write us a check for it.)  NONE OF THAT WAS BAD.  If anything, it was reasonable, logical, and full of common sense.

So what does Trump do?

He takes to Twitter to REFUTE WHAT HIS OWN CHIEF OF STAFF SAID.

I’m sorry I’m yelling.  This crap frustrates the hell out of me.

The Wall is the Wall, it has never changed or evolved from the first day I conceived of it. Parts will be, of necessity, see through and it was never intended to be built in areas where there is natural protection such as mountains, wastelands or tough rivers or water…..

….The Wall will be paid for, directly or indirectly, or through longer term reimbursement, by Mexico, which has a ridiculous $71 billion dollar trade surplus with the U.S. The $20 billion dollar Wall is “peanuts” compared to what Mexico makes from the U.S. NAFTA is a bad joke!

Why?  Why did he do that?  There was just no reason for it. Does he not know that John Kelly is on his side? Doing his best to make sure Trump is supported, and prepared, and informed?

This is just a perfect example to me of a self-inflicted wound that is utterly unnecessary.  So what’s Trump’s point?  Does he want us to believe his Chief of Staff isn’t trustworthy?  That John Kelly lied?  WHAT IN THE HOLY HELL IS HE DOING.

Help me out with this one, Trump fans.  Because I don’t get it.
