Let’s just start by reiterating that New York City is a sanctuary city, which literally means that they are a city whose municipal laws shield illegal immigrants from deportation or prosecution despite federal immigration law, and which allocate resources and infrastructure specifically to support those illegal immigrants. For years, the citizens of New York City have voted to encourage and facilitate illegal immigration by electing politicians (both local and federal) who implement such policies, thereby encouraging people to illegally enter the United States.
The problem is that not all states or cities are sanctuaries. And yet, places like New York and administrations like Biden’s have quite literally invited and encouraged an illegal immigration crisis, and the overwhelming burden of that crisis is being shouldered by cities and states which do not support illegal immigration or those who encourage it. That just doesn’t seem fair. The obvious answer to this predicament is to send all the illegal immigrants to places like New York City who quite literally voted to welcome them.
Only problem is that elections have consequences which the people of New York are just now discovering. They are being crushed by the illegal immigration they’ve so long encouraged and now they’re getting annoyed about it. But honestly, they have no right to be annoyed about it. They wanted it. They voted for it. They encouraged it. Now they’ve got it.
After going out of his way on many occasions to assure the public (and potential illegal immigrants) that NYC would remain a “sanctuary city,” Mayor Adams has now changed his tune and keeps expressing his frustration with his city being overrun by illegal immigrants which he now claims have “been unjustly dropped into the laps of New York City residents.”
SANCTUARY CITY MAYOR ADAMS: Illegal aliens have “been unjustly dropped into the laps of New York City residents.”

There’s nothing unjust about it! New York City residents literally voted for this! For years! Texans and Floridians and Arizonans and New Mexicans largely have not voted for this, so why should they be the ones dealing with it? It makes perfect sense to ship them to a city that has always said they wanted them and that they are welcome there. If anything, illegal immigrants are being “unjustly dropped into the laps” of the residents of the southern border states and cities. New York City needs to step up and deal with the consequences of their own actions.
