I had no idea this was a rule now, and that there are Actual Men Actually Apologizing for saying out loud that they find certain women attractive, but yeah. That’s a new rule now.
Tucker had a conversation with that crazy liberal feminist Cathy Areu about this a couple weeks ago, and she says that it’s completely OK for women to say men are attractive because “women don’t objectify men.”
Take a listen.
So yeah. Women don’t objectify men, but if they did, it would be OK because women don’t rape men. Or something.
I wish I would have been part of that discussion, because I would have asked Cathy if she’s ever heard of the Chippendales. Or the Thunder Down Under. Or Magic Mike. Or if she’s ever been around a group of heterosexual women who appreciate good looking men in her entire life.
In fact, I’d like to pause for a moment for all of us to enjoy this scene from Magic Mike, which I’m sure you’ll agree isn’t the least bit objectifying in any way.
Right? Nooooo objectifying going on there.
Oh, and then there’s this little tidbit from Wikipedia: “A significant proportion of victims of rape or other sexual violence incidents are male. Generally, rape is still thought to be a crime against women specifically (and has been historically defined this way), although many cases of male-victim rape have become subject of public discussion.”
Cathy Areu is a lunatic, and I can’t believe she’s given such a frequent platform on Tucker’s show, but she’s entertaining, so I guess there’s that.
In the meantime, I think I safely speak for Daisy and the Chicklets when I say that if you think we’re attractive, you are more than welcome to say so without apology. 🙂
