President Trump’s former campaign chairman (he was only involved in the campaign for 5 months) Paul Manafort is suing Robert Mueller. If you recall, Manafort was indicted back in October. There were 12 charges, which included “conspiracy against the United States, conspiracy to launder money, unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false and misleading FARA statements, false statements and seven counts of failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts.”
There were absolutely no charges for allegations related to collusion with Russia.
Back to the lawsuit.
Manafort’s lawyers in court documents filed Wednesday call into question Mueller’s decision to charge their client with crimes they say have “no connection whatsoever to the 2016 presidential campaign or even Donald Trump.”
“The investigation of Mr. Manafort is completely unmoored from the Special Counsel’s original jurisdiction to investigate ‘any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump,’” the complaint reads.“It has focused on unrelated, decade-old business dealings — specifically Ukraine political campaign consulting activities of Mr. Manafort.”
The filing also takes aim at the Justice Department and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein— who approved the special investigation after President Trump fired James Comey as FBI director.
Manafort ultimately “requested a federal judge reject Mueller’s appointment and dismiss the case against him.”

Basically, Paul Manafort is alleging the special counsel / DOJ overstepped its bounds, acting in an "arbitrary" and "capricious" way. https://t.co/WOalPIW0fw
