Meghan McCain And Joe Biden Share A Really Heartbreaking Moment

This post isn’t what I think about Joe Biden’s politics or Meghan McCain’s politics or The View… it’s about a really heartbreaking and relatable moment shared between two people.

I am capable of putting my politics aside for a moment and acknowledging the pain they both carry. I lost my grandmother to cancer a few years ago. She was among my very favorite people in the universe. It was really, really hard.

Which is why when I saw this, I couldn’t help but tear up.

Ooooofff. That was tough to watch.

Meghan starts immediately crying when she confesses to Biden that she was not able to get through his book, as her dad has recently been diagnosed with the same cancer that took his son.

Biden comforted her, and he shared a lovely message:

“There’s a lot of hope, Meghan… One of the things that gave Beau courage, my word, was John. Your dad, you may remember when you were a little kid, your dad, took care of my Beau. Your dad, when he was working with me, became friends with Beau.

Beau talked about your dad’s courage, not about illness, but about his courage. Look, there’s a lot of things happening. Any of you have somebody who is diagnosed with glioblastoma, which is as bad as it gets, there’s breakthroughs occurring now, there’s things going on — and it could happen tomorrow.”

The former Delaware senator went on to say that, despite their political differences, he and McCain were just “like two brothers who were somehow raised by different fathers,” adding that their different “points of view” never got in the way of their friendship.

“There is hope. Her dad is one of my best friends.”

To all who are about to blast me for feeling sympathy  or saying something positive about people on the “other side” … please step back and listen to yourself. I refuse to become a bad person over political differences.

I obviously don’t agree with everything John McCain has said or done, but I wish him all the best, and I truly feel for his family.

Again… I know what it feels like to lose part of your heart to cancer. It really, really hurts.
