Dalai Lama Claims That Asking A Kid To “Suck My Tongue” Was “Innocent And Playful”

What would you do if an old man made your child kiss him on the lips and then directed your child to suck on their tongue? What would you do? I’d call the police because that is wildly inappropriate and, frankly, disgusting. Now, add in an astounding power dynamic where the man is a well-respected and beloved social figure, which absolutely comes into play when coercing people, especially children, to do things that are inappropriate or which make them feel uncomfortable. I’m going to tell you right now, if an adult in a situation of actual or perceived power or influence tries to get your child to do something inappropriate that makes them feel uncomfortable, that person is dangerous to your child and probably others, and you need to stay far away from that person.

So now, let’s talk about the Dalai Lama. The 87-year-old globally respected spiritual leader was caught on video making a young boy kiss him on the lips and then sticking out his tongue and asking the child to suck on his tongue. I have to admit, when I saw this story break, I thought for sure it was a fake story. Then, the Dalai Lama came out and “apologized” for it, and I realized it was 100% real. Here’s the video.

I put “apologized” in quotation marks because he really doesn’t seem sorry at all. More like he’s just dealing with PR after people saw something he hoped they wouldn’t ever see. I mean, if he’s doing this kind of thing in public where it can be captured on video, what must he be doing in private? Below is the statement his people put out on his Twitter, which actually makes things worse. They claim he “often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way.” I’m sorry, are they saying that kissing a boy on the mouth and asking him to suck on his tongue is “innocent and playful?” No, it’s not. It’s inappropriate and disgusting, and in some of these cases, pedophilic. The child with the Dalai Lama was clearly uncomfortable as he hesitantly tried to do as he was told and leans in to suck on the man’s tongue. My heart aches for this child and all the others we don’t know about.
