It’s refreshing to hear a heartfelt testimony of faith in God and Jesus Christ from someone in a position of social prominence. It very rarely comes from Hollywood A-listers, who seem to be some of the most morally bankrupt in our society, but here’s Mark Wahlberg discussing religion and the positive impact that his devotion to the gospel has had on him. Not only does he share his personal testimony of the importance of faith, but he extends the invitation to everyone to take the opportunity during this Lent season to fast from something to improve some aspect of your life. You don’t have to be a devout Catholic to sacrifice something for personal improvement. He rightly explains that this looks different for everyone, but insists that we all have improvements that we could make in our lives, if only we are willing to make the sacrifice and do the work to improve them.
Our nation desperately needs to return to God and remember how we became such a free and prosperous nation. I hope we can all make the effort to strengthen our faith and turn to God to strengthen us in these very difficult times.
In a world where very few cultural icons are positive role models, it’s refreshing to watch @markwahlberg speak so sincerely about his commitment to his faith in Christ.

Rarely do A-list Hollywood actors so openly show a sincere love for God and respect for tradition, so I was… https://t.co/OsQIUPcL9d pic.twitter.com/HImHEut8ij

I truly appreciate this write-up about Mark Wahlberg testifying to how his faith is getting him through life. However, it’s worth pointing out that Catholics aren’t alone in observing Lent and receiving ashes on Ash Wednesday. A number of Protestant denominations also keep that tradition. Anglicans, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Methodists, just to name a few.
