After almost 2 weeks of near silence on the subject from the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, Secretary Buttigieg decided to speak out about the massive environmental and health disaster that is currently destroying and polluting a major section of the heart of this country. If he talked to his PR team about this, then they should all be fired because this was a terrible way to break his awkward silence. He downplayed the massive disaster by explaining that train derailments happen all the time, stating that there are “roughly 1,000 cases a year of a train derailing.” He’s dismissing it as simply the one that “has gotten a particularly high amount of attention,” as though it doesn’t warrant a particularly high amount of attention. As though this particular catastrophic disaster is somehow exactly the same as all these other train derailments every year despite the fact that it’s killing all plant and animal life for miles, polluting the water supply, destroying possessions and infrastructure from acid rain, and making people sick. Sounds like he’s saying it’s really no big deal and happens all the time, you just happen to be hearing about this one.
On top of this insulting and condescending downplay of a catastrophic disaster, he’s also admitting to the entire country that there are 1,000 train derailments every year and he, the Secretary of Transportation, isn’t all that worried about it. For someone who supposedly loves the board game Ticket To Ride (a qualification of his for this job), seems he hasn’t done much to address the 1,000 train derailments every year. He’s too busy with racist highways. I wonder how happy the people in the Ohio river basin are that Biden’s Administration is the “most diverse” in our history. Because Buttigieg is nothing more than a diversity appointment, and he’s an abject failure.

If we can find a way to call train derailments racist they might talk a bit more about them. They won’t do anything that matters, but they’ll pretend like they will.
Not sure how to do racist but possibly sexist as the cars tend to have a phallic shape so them crashing every where is clearly the patriarchy man-spreading across the country.
