Texas AG Paxton Sues Biden Admin, Alleges $1.7T Omnibus Bill Was Passed Without Quorum Present

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton made an announcement today regarding a lawsuit he has filed against the Biden Administration. Paxton has sued the Biden Administration several times, but this time it is regarding the passing of the $1.7 trillion Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 that was passed and signed into law in December of 2022. Specifically, the lawsuit alleges that the omnibus spending bill was signed and enacted unlawfully as a quorum was required. Paxton argues that the Constitution does not permit a quorum to be composed of proxy votes, therefore a quorum was not present in the House to pass the omnibus as 226 representatives voted remotely by proxy. Thus, any enactment of the unlawfully passed bill must cease immediately.

Basically, he’s saying that because our representatives didn’t actually show up to represent us, instead just sending in their vote with their friends as permitted by Nancy Pelosi, then it wasn’t legally passed. Imagine Pelosi’s outrage if this lawsuit is successful and their precious omnibus is killed because she didn’t require our representatives to actually show up to work for the last 3 years.
